Johnny's 30th

Justin and I had a much needed kid-free weekend.  We are blessed to have family that can make this possible.  Thank you so much Sue and Katie for keeping our girls for the weekend!  The trip started off a little rough.  We met Chad and Amy at DFW and even though we were all headed O'Hare we were on different direct flights twenty minutes apart.  Their flight moved around gates & got a little delayed, but we ended up at gates next to each other and boarding at the same time.  We were all so excited to get there & I couldn't help but think how perfectly the timing worked out since we were sharing a rent car.  Justin & I land in Chicago and he turned on his phone as we were taxiing.  Right then we he got a text from Chad saying they were just taking off!  They had gotten stuck on their plane forever, then got off & back on only to leave more than 2 1/2 hours after us!  Justin and I waited in the airport for them & couldn't even go get the rent car because it was in Chad's name.  When they finally arrived we were all still in good moods and anxious to hit the road since we still had a two hour drive.  Well, we drove into a rain storm...a bad one.  We stopped at a gas station crawling with police to find out we were basically in the eye of a tornado.  Great.  Anyway, the rain was pouring down and we had to drive 30 mph on the highway for a while.  Us coming was a surprise for Johnny and we were not only nervous about our drive, but we wondered if the surprise had been blown since we were so late.  We got there just as Johnny was eating a bedtime snack and heading to bed...I think it was about 1 a.m., but it may have been later.  Anyway, Lake Carroll ended up getting 14 inches of rain in two nights.  In fact the second morning we woke up to the entire bottom yard being several feet under water, the entire boat and dock floating into the lake and the water so high the boat was pushed up against the canape top you couldn't get it out!  It put a damper on the boys' golf plans and decreased time in the boat, but it didn't matter.  We had SO MUCH FUN!  Even though it rained like crazy at night, the days were sunny and beautiful.  We spent a good portion of the day with everyone hanging around the rickety raft.... our redneck yacht club.  We ate a ton of great food and had shuffleboard tournaments at night.  People were complaining of sore stomachs from laughing too much - it was such a great trip!  I did a guest post over on Tara's blog that has some pictures and videos of our trip: Johnny's 30th
