Dylan's 5th Birthday Party!

On December 3rd, we hosted Dylan's 5th birthday at our house.  This was our first time to invite all her little friends.  She requested a Tinkerbell theme and for entertainment she REALLY wanted a bounce house.  We reserved the bounce house knowing it was a risk since it would be a December party.  The early forecasts were predicting freezing weather.  We figured we would bundle all the kids up and let them go wild.  About 3 days before the party, the forecast turned to decent weather, but rain!  There was nothing we could do so we picked up the bounce house that morning, but then Justin & I headed to the store for a backup plan.  We came across cute Tinkerbell Bingo and bought a lot of prizes and figured that would keep them entertained in case it was pouring.

Everyone started arriving and she had a really good turnout.  We first did a hot chocolate bar that was a hit with most of the kids.  They snacked a little while we waited on people to arrive.  It was rainy so I took the kids upstairs for our brilliant backup plan.  Um - wrong!  One kid didn't want to play, a lot of kids had never played Bingo & didn't grasp the concept, several didn't know their numbers....it was a mess.  So instead of multiple rounds to eat up time we did one round and let them all grab prizes.  

I came downstairs and told Justin to blow up the bounce house.  He checked the weather map and there showed to be another wave of rain headed our way, but I didn't care!  The guys got to work and the kids were SO excited, jumping up and down watching it inflate.  God was watching over us and gave us about an hour of bouncing.  They were all having so much fun, we were going to skip presents, but that changed when more rain was coming!  Oh well - it all worked out and the party was a success....even though it was stressful!  I think from now on we are going to require the girls to select indoor parties!!!
