I thought it was time I told a few stories about my girls... mostly for my benefit because I don't want to ever forget what these days are like. First off, I just want to say that my days are filled with smiles and I am so happy staying home to be with my kids.
Dylan:
She is such a good big sister. She loves to help out with cooking, cleaning, bottles, diapers, dirty clothes, etc.
Justin & I have never been the type of parents to jump if Dylan was to fall or something - we just want her to tough it out if possible. Of course it's okay for her to cry if she's hurt in some way, but we just don't want her to be a crybaby & now that she's a toddler we don't want her to be a whiner. I think maybe we've taken this a little far. Several times now when Savannah cried, Dylan looks at me & says "She's got to stop crying!"
Dylan is a very tough kid. I think part of it was our influence, but mostly I know it's just who she is. She's never had any fear. While we love that about her, it can also give us heart attacks from time to time. A few months ago I was nursing Savannah on the couch in the living room only to turn around to see Dylan on top of our bar height kitchen table! Another example of Dylan's personality is when we give her a balloon. Her first question..."Can I pop it?" She loves to jump & climb. I often hear, "look mama, I a good climber."
She is a big TALKER. She talks all day long. It really doesn't matter if you listen or not because she'll still be talking! My favorite word of hers is roon. I'm not sure why I find this so adorable, but I do. She says roon instead of room, but she says it so convincingly that I can't help but smile. An example - "I want to watch a movie in my mommydaddy's roon." Mommydaddy is another word of hers. It's like we are one word. Also, she doesn't know the word don't. Everything is can't instead. Instead of I don't like this it's I can't like this! Dora & Diego have definitely had their impact on this child. Every now in then she throws in a Spanish word & catches me by surprise. Yesterday I took the girls on a walk & the sidewalk was pretty bumpy. Dylan looks up & says, "Cuidado mama - just be careful!"
Her favorite thing in the whole wide world right now is PONIES. She has about 12 ponies, the My Little Pony type, and she plays with them pretty much all day everyday. She knows all their names and says she has to take them to their home (our living room table). Each night she puts them to bed (lays them on their side on our fireplace) and wakes them up each morning (good morning Minty, good morning Pinkie, etc).
Just a bit ago she was curled up in the corner of the couch watching Mickey. She just looked so cute so I leaned over her, gave her a hug & told her I love her. She got a big smile on her face, gave me a hug back and said "Hi Mamma! Get off of me." :)
Savannah:
Savannah is just an adorable little baby girl. I look at her all the time & try to soak her in because I know how fast she will change. It's hard to even remember Dylan being that age.
She has the best smile. She loves to grin at you when you talk to her & she especially loves to smile at her big sister. She also loves to laugh. Lots of times she laughs herself to sleep & then will wake up laughing in the morning. She just LOVES the teddy bears on her bassinet. Yes, I know she's too old for a bassinet, but we currently have no nursery furniture. Ours was recalled so we are waiting for the new furniture to arrive. I'll do a before & after when we get it.
Now, she doens't laugh all day long - trust me. She does have a bit of a temper! She is not my little cuddler either. I want to badly to be able to pacify her, but all she wants is to be put down on her back on the floor. That's her favorite thing in the world. We'll put her on her mat on the floor that has a mirror on it & she'll just stare at herself. She must think she's as cute as we do! As a result of all the floor laying, her head is pretty flat. I've been trying to work on that lately because her 4 month appointment is coming up & I don't want her to get a helmet!
She's growing & changing so much. She is VERY close to rolling over. She just needs to get her hips moving a little more & she'll have it. When I woke up this morning she was sleeping on her side instead of her back how she normally is. She better roll for us before we leave for Vegas again. If not, my parents will be in charge of the video camera. Dylan rolled for the first time when she was away from us so I really don't want to miss Savannah's first roll!
She's also started using her hands so much more. Yesterday she was just reaching out & playing with the toys on her car seat.
So far Savannah sounds pretty girly. She loves to coo & squeal. She's learned to make several sounds. I need to get them on video so you can see for yourself.
Savannah also actually watches t.v. occasionally with Dylan. It's funny to see her do this because Dylan never watched more than 30 seconds of t.v. until she was 18 months old!
The past few days Savannah has done nothing but sleep! She must be growing.
Ok, I better go. I'm running out of room to type as my keyboard is being covered in ponies!

I loved reading the stories, it brings back a lot of memories. Maybe you should start a journal!
