We went to Amarillo for Thanksgiving and had a wonderful time. I'm not sure why, but I never take pictures when I am there! Anyway, we got spoiled with lots of love, a great Thanksgiving meal, a fun dinner out at OHMS and a rowdy game of high stakes LRC! It was a blast!!
Our house was one of the stops for our neighborhood progressive dinner. This was the third year, our second time to co-host, but the first time to open up our home. We had 3 other wonderful families co-hosting our stop so it was really pretty easy. My job was to get the house clean (it's always nice to have something to motivate me to get it all done!), and make champagne jello shots & a vodka punch. The menu at our house was meatballs in marinara, mashed potato bar, mini key lime and strawberry bites. It was a wild night as usual!
After we got past the progressive dinner it was time to just enjoy simple Christmas things with our kids. Along with the elf I had an activity planned for everyday of December. They ranged from decorating our fridge with new Christmas magnets to looking at lights to making Christmas sweets. It really is such a fun time of year and it's too easy to get caught up in it all. Kids really do enjoy just the simplest things at home!
Santa came to our pool this year. Seeing Santa was one of our daily activities and this sure made it easy. There was no line at all so we just walked right up, snapped a few pictures & left with cookies and Capri Suns! Rather than dress the kids up we went in pajamas again and I think it turned out cute.
I let Adam have his first chocolate chip cookie...it was from Santa so who was I to argue? He didn't realize the yumminess he was holding and started to squirm when I put him back in his car seat so soon.
Then he tasted it and was perfectly happy - ha!
We made Rice Krispie houses and trees before friends came over one night.
We joined Dylan at her Christmas party. I had volunteered to help with the party, but our school is great and there are so many involved parents that I didn't even get asked to bring anything or help. There was so many parents and siblings there that the class room was packed. Adam got sick of the stroller so I had my hands full keeping him out of the way. They did a wonderful job and had SO many activities for the kids to do. Dylan asked us to come to the party and of course I wanted to go anyway. I guess she didn't understand that I wasn't on party duty. It was hilarious. When she got home from school that day she said, "A lot of the other mommies were helping with the party and you didn't do anything!" Hahaha! She's right. She was so happy to see us and gave us such sweet hugs it was all okay. :)
We had gifts under the tree for quite a while and I was pleasantly surprised at how well Adam did with them. There was only one bag he'd go for that he tore up a little bit (sorry mom and dad), and one ornament he liked to pull off. Other than that he was fine and I thought I was getting out pretty easy. I guess the last few days before Christmas there was enough gifts to hold his attention. He was tearing into them NON STOP. On Christmas Eve after we had the girls in bed, Justin & I sat on the couch to relax a little bit. I look over and Adam is under the tree, happily sitting with a big piece of wrapping paper hanging out of his mouth!
About this same time he figured out he could get in the cabinets and pull everything out. I just let him go for it in the tupperware cabinet.
The girls were so happy to help make treats for a neighbor we were taking dinner to. I still love their little Christmas aprons!
