Savannah Update

Well, we just got home from the hospital this morning. I went to work as usual yesterday morning & was only there a few minutes before being rushed to a hospital with lights & sirens blaring in an ambulance. That right there freaked me out as much as anything because back in high school when I broke my leg and rode in an ambulance they told me lights & sirens were only used in life threatening situations. I'll skip all the gory details, but I had a placental abburption. Justin & I were mentally prepared to have Savannah yesterday, but the hospital closely monitored me for 24 hours & she seems to be okay where she is. I hadn't eaten breakfast yesterday & then after all the drama I was not allowed to eat anything in case I had to go into surgery. That means I went over 36 hours with out food (or drink for most the time). It was a big scare, but we were very relieved to get to come home today. For now I am on bed rest & will have an appointment Monday to determine what happens next. It's still a little scary. I am not allowed to be alone because if something else were to happen we were told to get to a hospital immediately - no time to wait for an ambulance. I think part of the reason we were allowed to go home was due to the fact we live so close to our hospital.

My parents got here yesterday. They both happened to have separate flights already booked from Amarillo to San Antonio with a stop in Dallas. My mom's wasn't until the afternoon so she knew what was going on immediately, but my dad had his phone off at the Dallas airport. He happened to give my mom a call while already on the plane. They were already doing the whole fasten your seat belt and oxygen mask speech & he had to run off the plane. Southwest was of course a little suspicious of someone trying to get off the plane last minute so he got questioned a bit. It was just a crazy day all the way around. My parents will go home tomorrow evening and then Sue, my mother in law, is coming to help us out.

Everything happening at work was extremely humiliating. It made it worse that crowds love to gather to gawk. Oh & the rumor mill started swirling immediately. While in the waiting room at the hospital my friend Jason got a text asking how the baby was. Word was that I had in her the ambulance parked out in front of the building!!

We are very thankful everything turned out well and that everyone is safe, but it was weird to come home from the hospital still pregnant. We just thought that was it. Stay posted - we hope she comes soon! We are so ready to meet and hold our precious baby girl.
